Ongoing use of the Asbestos Register is the fundamental
building block in the Hazard Management Plan. Ongoing tasks
include:
Occupants are to be made aware of the Asbestos
Register;
The people responsible for managing the register are
trained in compliance requirements;
The Asbestos Register is to be made available to all
employees and contractors intending to work or required
to work on or near asbestos containing products;
Prior to commencing work on or near any of these
asbestos containing products, workers need to be trained
in asbestos awareness including working with asbestos,
maintenance jobs and emergencies;
All workers and administrators are responsible for
ensuring the register is updated as each event occurs;
It is a requirement to keep records of all asbestos
related activities for 40 years from the date of the
last entry in the register.
